National Experimental Arts Hothouse

Adhocracy 2017

Adhocracy is Vitalstatistix’s national hothouse, supporting the creative development of new experimental and multidisciplinary arts projects. Artists from around Australia join us to create, converse and critique in one space, our heritage-listed home, Waterside.

Artists spend four days and nights in an open studio environment developing new work that can span performance, live art, sound, visual art and more. They are in the early stages of the process of making, and are experimenting with ideas and form.

Projects are selected to participate in Adhocracy through a national call open to Australian and South Australian artists; this year there will be a special opportunity for a new South Australian work.

Additionally, each year Adhocracy includes a residency project, which teams interstate guest artists with South Australian collaborators. This year’s residency project is Second Hand Emotions.

Adhocracy is a festival of ideas meets intense art camp meets magic house party. As part of this unique national lab, audiences engage with the artists and their projects through a public program of artist talks and work-in-progress showings. Get amongst some of Australia’s most exciting established and emerging makers of Australian contemporary culture, art, performance and commentary, across the first weekend of Spring.
